Mr.Katju’s Rehashing of Gandhi Criticism

Mr.Katju’s Rehashing of  Gandhi Criticism

I have read Mr.Katju’s criticism of Gandhi with interest. Whatever be the intention of the writer, it makes poor reading because all the arguments of the author are old and perhaps rehashing of criticisms leveled against Gandhi from his South African days through his work in India from 1915 until his assassination in 1948.

And Gandhi continues to be criticized on many counts both by Indian and foreign scholars and others who occasionally believe that Gandhi criticism will give them money and a little publicity.
I do not deify Gandhi, nor do I believe that Gandhi criticism is a sin or against national interest. But then someone who claims objectivity should have something new to say. Unfortunately Mr.Katju’s arguments appear to be stale, contrived and borrowed.
